Deconstruct & Reconstruct

This was my Favourite project out of all; We were told to bring in 5 clothes either from home or to buy some at our local charity shop. I decided to bring in my own clothes, these where the categories: Tailoring, knitwear, evening wear, shirts & casual/ sportswear/ workwear.
I brought; smart trousers for workwear, knitted jumper, evening dress x2, casual maxi skirt, knitted jacket and a casual velvet leggings to work from.
We started off with just fabric manipulation with these items; cutting, ripping, stitching, experimentation and reinvention. The whole point of this project was to reinvent from something already existing like recreated a final piece. For my research we told to look into John Galliano, Juba Watanabe and Helmut Lang. Whereas i chose to look into Comme Des Garcons, Who i believe is a perfect example for this project.
Moving on, these are a few of my design developments for this project, starting with the smart trousers and knitwear jacket;
Developing from here, i then changed the whole thing completely by switching to both my evening dresses, but one of them i didn't actually use the dress itself i cut off the hem and used it to develop my ideas forward.
I really liked this section of my development, it reminds me of the victorian time dresses...
From here, i chose to change the subject completely so i wasn't stuck developing a whole load more. Only because i get carried away when it comes to fabric manipulation on the stand. The design ideas above, was me mainly playing around with the arms of my lace print silk dress; with the hem of the other.
Additionally, i then moved onto my velvet leggings in order to create a completely different look i had from before. I cut a hole through my leggings to have it around the neck and developed my ideas from there...
Developing from here, is where & how i got the victorian look. I thought it was very successful although it happened accidentally.
From here, i started observing and adding detail onto one of the section on the mannequin. It wasn't my favourite, however i could have developed into more detail elsewhere to refine my work.
Last but not least, this has got to be my favourite collection out of all. Not just because it looked very modern, but t was how sharp the tones of black and white stood out.
This was the other section i added my other knitted jumper which was monochrome and also gave a monochrome look successfully.
