12 Days of Christmas

Grotesque, Bleed & Nick Knight

3 Words was one of my favourite projects so far, only for the research section though. With this project, I've realised that too much research isn't good as a designer; only because i got carried away doing too much research and less development towards my final piece. The three words i chose from the list were; Grotesque, Bleed and Nick Knight.

Mood-board

The moment i got a mannequin and three different types of fabrication, i was impressed by what i done and the thought of what i could of done with more timing.
I started off with less extravagant work and then moved onto structure. I was pleased with the outcome, however if i had more time I'm sure i would of developed this onto an actual garment or a sample calico.
The thought of my chosen three words was always on my mind as i was working so i didn't step out of my theme. As seen on the images, moving on from gathering onto actually ripping the fabric was mainly the idea of bleeding and Grotesque.

Fabric Manipulation on the mannequin;

Moving on from fabric manipulation, i started looking into some gothic architecture that i thought was relevant to one of words; Grotesque. Which really inspired me to develop that idea forward to create some samples and observe the patterns on the buildings.

Mainly this section in my sketchbook was just black and white, where i thought i could bring in some of my personality into my work so it was much more personal.
Here are some examples of my sketchbook;

Moving forward from the same development, there was this one image i loved a lot which was sort of an interior architecture piece; i thought to develop it further more...
So i ask found this image from a book that reminded me of the word bleed, due to the colour tones on it which was blending in, like ombre. So using both images i made a heat press sample of green and blue fabric paint and cut up some foil in silver to heat press with it.

Furthermore, i then photocopied my hair on the printer four times in different positions to select my favourite and printed that one out in acetate paper. Although this was a great idea for me, i thought to develop that idea furthermore if i had time to engage with my work and refine my development. I was going to buy plastic wig and cut out the hair from it and heat press with it.

As a Final piece, i created a collection that was developed from another heat press sample, which didn't turn out great. The only reason i couldn't prepare it to a higher standard was due to the lack of time i had left and how i wasted it with creating more ideas rather than sticking to one and developing that.

Industry Group Project; PRADA

At First, We had a selection of designers to select from, such as: Comme Des Garcons, Prada, Mary katrantzou, Burberry and J.W Anderson. My first selection was Prada however, it was late for me to have realised, that really i wanted to chose Comme Des Garcons. So then i was put into Prada Group 2.

For this Project, We were asked to select the career path we would like to specialise in; So i chose to be the Womenswear designer.

As seen on the Prada Logo above, which was successfully designed by the promotion team, the shape of the A on the logo was the shape our team came up with in order for inspiration, for example; The print designers would use it to create a a pattern or designers would use the shape for the striation of the garments. In order to prove it was group work, both me and the menswear designer had to work closely to have a similar collection rather that having something completely different.

Styling & Photography

Styling & Photography

On this Lesson, we were told to bring in clothes we though were suitable for this project and Some jewellery.
Our first task was to Take four Selfies (Photos we took of ourselves) that represented our personality and bring them into lesson to share with the class.

Here are my Selfies that represent my identity & Personality:

This was what i took, which i found out that Ive don't taken the wrong photo so i was going to refine my task and complete it correctly.

Later on in the day we started off with creating some sort of creative photo of our clothing's that we brought in, that day...
I decided to go with the colour scheme, and this was my out come:

We then had to pair up in to groups of two's and style our partner with our own clothing and take photo shoots, first in the class room, later on all around the building in order to be as creative as possible...

Here is me styling my partner...
